About Us

Mackintosh Group is a fifth-generation farming family located in Wanganui, New Zealand. The enterprise includes a grain silo complex, agricultural contracting, and contract-rearing chickens. Alongside the grain, contracting and poultry operations, Mackintosh Group run a sheep (supplying Coastal Lamb), beef and arable cropping enterprise across three farms in Wanganui and the Rangitikei; a hill country sheep & beef breeding farm, complemented by flatter finishing farms and nearby lease block.

Our clients range from local farmers to garden centres, loggers, and grain merchants. Our services include ground work, balage contracting and grain harvesting, weighing as well as storage, processing and marketing of a variety of grain crops.

We're active members of the rural community and agricultural sector, dedicated to future generations' farming success. In his twenties Paul was an enthusiastic member of NZ Young Farmers but more recently we've regularly hosted various university and farm field days, and continue to participate in regular Foundation for Arable Research trials. Agricultural training students from Primary ITO visit our farms for practical experience on a weekly basis and we have also supported Wanganui High School and Cullinane College's agricultural work experience programmes.

Paul has been chair of the Foundation for Arable Research NZ's South Western North Island Arable Research Group since 2017 and has been Arable Chair for Federated Farmers' Wanganui Province since 2019.

The Family

We have farmed this land since the late 1800s when the first Mackintoshes arrived from Scotland.

Paul is the Group’s managing director and lives on the farm with his family, while Ruth is the chair of the board of directors and lives in Whanganui with her family. Parents, Helen and Bruce, are semi-retired and continue to live on the farm, and remain active custodians of the land.

You're welcome to connect with us on LinkedIn: Paul Mackintosh, and Ruth Mackintosh.

The Staff

We are a team of conscientious, driven people with a love of farming and machinery. The work is varied and our guys and gals enjoy hunting and other perks of farm life. During peak seasons, the team is bolstered by experienced, hardworking temps. If you're great to work with, careful with expensive gear, physically fit, and have machinery experience, please drop us a line.
